Default Digital I/O

Beeing a Sond Forge user for many years, I asked Sonic Foundry if they had any plans to support the Digital I/O standard. Here is
their answer:

Paal,

Unfortunately, we don't support proprietary formats such as Direct I/O in
our software. All of our software conforms to industry standards so that it
can be used as a stable application with the widest selection of hardware
possible. It is unfortunate that Digidesign has chosen to implement a
proprietary driver that requires that all 3rd party software companies
change their software to be able to use their specific hardware. At this
time, there are no plans to support Digital I/O.

Thank you for writing,

****
Mike W.

Default Re: Digital I/O

I think this guy is confused with Digi's "Direct I/O." I have no problems recording into ANY Windows app using the Digi001's SPDIF port, including Sound Forge. Just change the Digi001 Wave Driver's 1/2 input setting to "Digital," and the clock setting to "SPDIF" from the Multimedia Properties menu.
