Default PT 12.8.x and HUI

Since 3rd party control surfaces that use the HUI protocol are no longer supported, what are you guys using? I was interested in getting the Presonus FaderPort 8 until I found out about this.

No longer supported, but if they left it alone, basic functionality should be fine. I'm using a single channel Faderport n 12.4 HD/Win 10 and it works great. But I also use the free app on my I pad.

Well since HUI worlks and many many studios use that protocol I can't see why you would skip a HUI controller. Non supported means nothimg if you have a working setup.

The original Faderport or the Faderport 8?

I can get my original FP to work with PT, but it's finicky. It works perfectly with Studio One, and because I float between Tools (for Post) and S1 (for everything else), I've been looking at the F8.

I have a Command 8, but I can't get that to work with anything other than PT, and it takes up a tremendous amount of space on my desk.

I also have the original but I've been eyeing the 8. Or something comparable. Avid's control surfaces are too pricey for me...

I use both FP and FP8 for PT and Studio One. So far HUI has worked fine in PT even though the end-of-life stories been around for a number of versions.
