Recording Clean sound while monitoring distorted guitar
Brand spanking new 11R user here. Must have missed this in the manual..... how do I go about recording clean uneffected guitar tracks in pro tools while hearing distorted of the same guitar in my headphones at the same time? I must be missing something here.
Sorry for the newb question....but I am just that. Thanks |

Re: Recording Clean sound while monitoring distorted guitar
For the effected track you want input "Eleven Rig L\R"
For the dry guitar you want the input to be "Guitar" You'll probably want to mute the dry guitar track while recording

Re: Recording Clean sound while monitoring distorted guitar
Next time you create a new session, try the "Re-Amping" template
under the Eleven Rack category. you should find it very helpful as they've included comments on the tracks. esh. |

Re: Recording Clean sound while monitoring distorted guitar
Ok guys my mistake. . I am only using the 11R as a guitar preamp not as a recording module. My Module is the fast track solo cause I am using PT Express.
Is there a way to split or have the distorted track come out of the left of the 11R and the clean out of the right and go into channel 1 and 2 on the solo? I need to record the clean signals for reamping but monitor (headphones) the distortion while I am recording the clean tracks at the same time. I'm I stuck recording the distorted and then going back and recording all the clean tracks along to the dirty track? The guitar Y cable I bought is a NO go. It's causing all kinds of high end signal presence when recording. Thanks.

Re: Recording Clean sound while monitoring distorted guitar
This is so much easier to do with the Eleven Rack as your interface. You signature says you have PT11, is there anyway you can use that instead of PT Express?
If not, one possible solution is to use the Output to AMP. Set the source to the input of the chain which is guitar only, and run that into your Fast track. If the Fast Track has SPDIF, that would be a much better way. Use Split IN/OUT on the Eleven Rack.

Re: Recording Clean sound while monitoring distorted guitar
Yes sir I do use PT 11 but our guitarist in Florida (we're in Texas) uses PT Express. Sorry I didn't clarify that.
I am helping him on his new 11R. We really appreciate all your help on this.
