Default Meter Delay?

I have just changed my master compression (went from an outboard Finalizer to L3-16) with the maximum delay comp engine. When playing back I've noticed that although the playhead cursor reflects the proper audio output alignment, my meters are WAY ahead. Obviously this seems to be a function of the huge delay comp, but it seems odd. Shouldn't all audio processing be representative of the delay engine? Also, when I audition SFX in my browser window (while PT is stopped) they are delayed as well.

I guess the question is..are these normal issues while using the Maximum delay comp, or is something wrong here?

Thanks all.
