It's easily missed!

I caught it because I habitually read every bit of all documents. You can imagine how popular I've been at real estate closings....

My guess is it just the usual 'end of product cycle' type announcement rather than any specific incompatibility. Early signs seem good here, that's for sure!

Like my wife was at ours - our lawyer said she's worse than a lawyer.

I don't think it's that simple.
I wonder what the real reason is for them doing this. There has to be a technical reason. There's a ton of useful 5,1's out there still being used and with the covid-19 crapola nobody's making any money to even think about computer upgrades.
This is the end of the line for any new (to me) Waves plugins.

BEWARE! I updated to V12 and some of the Waves plugins became immediately useless! E.g. Waves Tune generates phasing and doubling... Totally messed up!

...so far no problem on Macpro 5,1, Mojave, PT Ultimate 2020.9.
Don't use Tune.

Cheers

How are you not having problems? All the v12 gui's are blank on a 5,1 cheesegrater. Even Waves themselves says 1 2012 5,1 MacPro is not compatible with v12. Combine that with the thing that Waves really didn't get right the upward scaling - check out the thread over on Gearslutz in the 'New Products' section.

If you look at the thread I linked to you'll find that someone who got in touch with Waves tech support said it was due to 5,1's not having Metal support in their video cards. I'm calling bullcrap on that - how many have upgraded their 5,1's to a Metal video card?

We are running Mojave on our systems. So yes, we have installed Metal compatible GPUs (flashed Radeon 7950s).

Thanks for the reply. So it does come down to having a Metal compatible video card then. Waves should have been more forthcoming with this. Would have saved a LOT of time for people.

As stated before, there are problems beyond just the GUI, so proceed at own risk.
