Default Control 24 of DA7?

I have a Digi001 Setup and am feeling that I need/want a control surface to round out my studio. I have seen DA7's go for about 2 grand, which seems great for such a controller and mixer, or should I go with a Control24? Are there other good options that I should consider?...

Thanks

David,
I think the DA7 is an awesome partner for your Digi 001. A $7k control surface for an eight hundred dollar DAW is a bit out of whack IMHO. The DA7 will give you some HUI control features and with a WR-ADAT card you'll have an additional 8 channels of I/O that sound better than your Digi converters plus decent Mic pres, EQ and Dynamics . The DA7 is a very nice console and for the price I've seen them going for lately I think a super nice deal.

$2k seems like a steal. Make sure it's the DA7 mkII (OS2.01 or higher). Previous versions don't have the HUI mode/DAW support.

I have the DA7 MkII and I think the MkII was introduced with OS 2.5. The original DA7 can be software upgraded to OS 2.1 giving you HUI or DAW mode. To upgrade to OS 2.5 requires some minor hardware changes. If you don't need a mixing console and just want a control surface look into the Logic Control .

How good is the HUI mode on the DA7? Is it all the features of the HUI?

It can't do everything the HUI can but on the other hand the HUI can't do what the DA7 can. DA7 HUI emulation gives you Solo, Pan,
Mute, Transport and Faders. Check the DA7 user group. http://www.da7.com/
