-9173 When Video track is online

I have a "Studio" system (System 1 in signature-pretty "Lean") and a "Laptop" system (System 2 in signature-theoretically much more powerful). All my sessions work perfectly on System 1 but throw -9173 errors on my System 2 (laptop) when I try and play the session with the Video track online (works fine with Video offline). Session details: Video is a 5min 720P ProRes quicktime playing from an external USB SSD drive (same video/drive on both systems). The only discernible difference between systems (beyond hardware) is the OS. The problematic, more powerful system 2, is on an older OS. I have done all AVID recommended optimizations (including prefs trashed).

Have you ever tried unchecking "Enable GPU" in the preferences under Video? I had to do that on one laptop to get it to work reliably.
