Default Running outboard gear into 002 control surface

I want to run a condenser mic thru outboard gear into interface, 48v phantom power, is that a first stage thing? I can't get my condenser to signal, I'm running it thru eq, compressor, effects unit into the 002 pre's, any thought's?

Microphones must have their very small voltage signal amplified by a mic-pre-amplifier. You cant plug the mic into that EQ.
Mic into 002 mic-pre input, then you can perhaps think about using your hardware as insert on the 002.

You also usually need the phantom power from the preamp directly connected to the condenser mic. And as Ben says the corrrect way to do this is use the built-in mic preamp and your outboard gear as an insert. The 002 documentation and manually books on audio engineering will explain what that means and the insert/"Y" cable you usually need.

Since you have the 002, which is filled with 'not so great" preamps, I recommend you complete the external chain to include a really good preamp(which could then pass thru your external EQ and compressor, and patch into one of the LINE inputs of the 002). That way, you get what you want, but with a better preamp. Look at preamps such as:
ART Pro MPA(shockingly good for cheap)
Grace
Focusrite ISA one(or two)
Chameleon Labs 581(requires a chassis or lunchbox)
All the above will allow what you want and should sound a lot better than the onboard preamps of the 002

So take the line output of the ISA Pre Pack into a line input on the 002. Start by getting one thing running at a time and check stuff works (e.g. tryouts can check the ISA Pre Pack works by driving a headphone amp. Or check your lineup input works with some other line level device.

If you are having trouble doing that you need to describe *exactly* what you are doing exactly what cable is connecting to what etc.

Ok so to go directly into outboard I would need a di with phantom power, is that correct?

Huh? Your Focusrite box is a preamp, turn on phantom power on whatever channel your condenser mic is plugged into on that box and take that channel analog out to a line input on the 002.

You likely need a XLR to TRS cable to do this.

A DI is used for high impedance sources like a guitar or bass pickup. Not what you have. You have a microphone, which connects to a microphone preamp, which you have....
