G4 with protools

I have a dell right now running pro-tools on windows xp home

I have a lot of problems with it and want to upgrade to an apple computer

Will a G4 suffice for handling pro-tools? or Do I need to spend the extra money and get a G5?

You'll be just fine with a G4...
I've used both a G4 iBook and a G4 Mini...
If you were to get a G4 desktop, you would have more options in terms of max RAM and expansion slots, etc... but even the Mini works great for me! And I've used 24-32 tracks, with quite a few plug-ins, AND BFD, many times.

I really appreciate it. Im sure the G4 will do a lot better than dell dimension 4700. Pro tools just wasnt meant to run on windows.
