Serious Pro Tools LE 6.8.1 problems!
Hello!
About a month ago I had AMD XP 2400+ (prosessor), MSI nVidia GeForce 4 4800SE 8X (grafic-card), 512 RAM and a motherboard that I don't remember the name of. With these hardwares Pro Tools woreked just perfectly! Now I have AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Prosessor 4600+ 2,41GHz, nVidia Point of View GeForce 7600 GS, 1024 RAM and Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe motherboard. With these hardwares Pro Tools is totally fu**ed up! When I start Pro Tools with the DV Toolkit and the Digi Translator and the MP3 Option (purchased separately on the Digidesign store) installed, my PC restarts when Pro Tools are loading these. I have tried to install Pro Tools without installing these plugins, and then Pro Tools starts as it should, but I really need these plugins! Another problem when Pro Tools starts as it should, is that some buttons on the "Transport" won't work properly. Another problem is that I cannot record sounds in the way I did before... Does someone have an explanation on this issue??? I really hope so!!! Maybe it works after a reinstallation of Windows XP Pro? I have no idea! I have contacted Digidesign and their answers did not help me... yet! Hope for answers! Dan Edward |

Re: Serious Pro Tools LE 6.8.1 problems!
6.8.1 was the version of Pro Tools specifically released with the MBox 2, was it not? If so, I think you are still entitled to a free upgrade to 7.0 (you will need to check with Digidesign about that).
7.0 was the first version of Pro Tools to support dual processors on the windows platform. I strongly suggest that you upgrade since you are now using a dual core processor. You may be able to get 6.8.1 working with the extra software you are having problems with by turning off one core of the dual. Also, did you do a fresh install of XP on the new machine? Or did you just move the drive from one to the other? Definitely recommended to do a complete install of the operating system from scratch when doing a motherboard/processor upgrade. And that's not just for Pro Tools, that's for the computer in general.

Re: Serious Pro Tools LE 6.8.1 problems!
Thanks for your answer!
I have never heard of a free upgrade to 7.0. As already told, my Pro Tools is an LE version. I will contact Digidesign and hear what they say about the upgrade... I did a fresh install! I always do this! Thanks! Dan Edward |
