Default S/PDIF inputs using SVP and 001

I have been very successful with analog I/O on the 001 using SAP. I don't seem to be able to get the S/PDIF inputs to work.

When I try to set the clock source to "digital" I get an "system error -24" message, and S/PDIF does not show up in my list of choices for input.

I know Opcode is in a state of limbo with Gibson, so there isn't any development going on. What I am trying to do is determine if any one has been successful with this so I will know if I should keep trying, or switch to other audio hardware that has been proven. (I really want to stay with the 001, however!)

Stats: G4/450(AGP), MACOS9 with SVP 4.5.1, SVP 4.2.2, Digi Init 5.0

I use PT5.0LE with AM3 card. At first I thought the digital inputs had disappeared, then I clicked on the Input button on the channel strip in the mix window and a choice of 4 inputs came up: 888#1, 888#2, 888#3 & 888#4. Why they are called 888 beats me. The #1 & #2 are the Analog channels, #3 & #4 are the Digital (SPDIF) channels. You don't need to change clock to digital (in fact if you do and don't have a digital source running into the card, the AM3 free runs at some relatively low dample rate (about 22 kHz but I don't think it is exact) and bizarre results occur when you play stuff recorded when the clock was correct!)

I have the same problem using the ASIO Direct I/O driver from Steinberg with Cubase - no S/PDIF, but all the analog inputs work fine.

An un-implemented feature set?

I successfully recorded to DAT via the digital outs, but still nothing coming in via digital S/PDIF. This is true whether I record in Vision DSP, Protools 5.0 LE, or Peak LE, so I suspect it is related to the AMIII card or its supporting software. It worked for awhile, then stopped, perhaps after I ran DATa 3.1.
Digidesign, any advice on this?

I've seen several posts about using SVPro witht he 001, and why can't I get the damn thing to recognize the hardware? I've downloaded the steinberg ASIO and still no luck, SVP still can't "find" the hardware. Would anyone be willing to walk me through it? I know this is a pain in the ass for all of you who've got it going...I just don't get it.

I'm using a G4/400 SVP 4.2, Digi001

thanks in advance....
Sean
