White Noise From Audio Track Playback

Hi there,

I just recorded a stereo audio sample to a stereo Audio Track. Everything sounded good while recording. When I played back the recorded audio track, all I got was solid white noise. The actual waveform of the recording looks as it should (see pic).

Which waveform is it supposed to be?
System specs?

Just realized the problem originated from working off of an external drive versus my internal drive. I'd saved backups of the session to the external and began working with those rather than the original. Stupid mistake.
