Default PT 10.3.2 Major issues - help?

Hi All,

I don't often come on here for help...but I am stumped if I know what is happening.

Did an upgrade from PT10.2 to 3.2; prior to upgrade 10.2 was solid.

Did the uninstall of HD + drivers.

1. Tried to upgrade ilok - will not sync (upgraded driver & client )
2. Installed PT10.3.2 - all ok, so far.
3. Launched PT - loaded a previous session, which ran fine under 10.2
Complete crash with 20% CPU load.

Restarted - lost sync with audio interface
Re installed audio drivers, relaunched PT and loaded another session that was solid.

Massive latency issues; tried to correct - locked up, crashed and burned!

I have done this with another few attempts, using different sessions.
Best result was with a buffer of 256k, level4 streaming, short delay compen.

Soon as I try to change a RTAS instrument, crash.

It is massively unstable.

I have sent for help from ilok, to try and resolve the sync issue.

As for PT...well I'm up here looking for answers.

Should I revert to PT10.2?

Is 10.3.2 stable or are there many issues with it?

here's hoping someone can help

Regards

10.3.2 is solid here. It might help if you post a Sandra report so we have a clue about your setup. Then, if you save drive images, I would revert to a working setup(if you don't, then you NEED to get on board with imaging! Look into Acronis True Image or similar), or whatever it takes to get back to what you had that worked before(sometimes updates don't work as well as we'd like, so I NEVER install an update without saving an image first, and usually won't install an update unless it addresses something that I have actually had trouble with

Look at the top of the page for this link:

Unhappy Re: PT 10.3.2 Major issues - help?

Hi,

I have run through a few more things...

Rechecked all the optimisation settings & startup items as per read me file for install.

Second, removed some unwanted programs.

Uninstalled PT 10.3.2 and put PT10.2.0 back

When I reloaded PT, issues still remained.

However, I believe there are some issues being caused by programs running n the background.

So, I ran a latency checker - which stated that my system was adequate. The latency was around 500micro sec, which I feel is too high. I remember it being around 300 micro secs.

So, this confirms my suspicions.

But identifying what it is, still eludes me.

I ran Ableton, which seemed fine.

But, in PT, the overriding issue is pops, click and massive interference with the smoothness that I am normally accustomed to.

Any additional help would be welcomed

Michael

Default Re: PT 10.3.2 Major issues - SOLVED

Hi,

Managed to sort out the problem....

Microsoft sent a patch security update which turned back on several srvchost files...

This just sent the processor daft and kept interrupting flows.

Got a smart little program called Process Services which tells us some great info about what is really working in the background.

But, its now sounding sweet again!!
Shall I go for 10.3.2? Mmmmm

Yes, but save a drive image first. So if it fails, just resotre and be right back where you are now. FWIW, the Asus VIA firewire usually doesn't work with Pro Tools(but maybe you aren't using it)...
