Unhappy 8.0.3cs2 update - issues continue

Back in January, I attempted to update to 8.0.3cs1 in hopes that the problems I was experiencing w/ version 8.0.3 back in November would be solved - no dice.

After 2 weeks of patient Digi technical support, advice & attempts to rectify this situation, we were unable to make version 8.3 or 8.0.3cs1 work.

Subsequently, I've seen on the DUC site that Digi knew there were rampant problems & were attempting to fix them.

Well, thinking that the problems were solved, yesterday I gave 8.0.3cs2 a shot - whoops.

Here's my issue: when launching a session, or attempting to start a new one, PT's fires up normally & all seems well & "normal" (tracks & plug-ins load, faders snap into place, etc.).

But then it seems to take a breath & decide that it doesn't wanna play with my 002 anymore. Read outs on the 002 go away (track labels, positions, etc.) & it goes back to it's default "look" (faders @ zero &, from left to right, "Digi 002" & "Standby" appearing in the windows).

I don't get a window or warning telling me it's lost it's connection or anything, it just freezes up & the Mac pinwheel of death starts mockingly spinning out of control.

I've gone through again & done everything the Digi guys had me do the last time I went through this ... with no luck unfortunately (clean install, optimizer, restore defaults, etc.).

Bounced back to 8.0.1cs1 for a session this morning & (as before), all is right with the world!

In case someone is able to shed some light on this little hiccup I'm having with 8.0.3cs2 (or any other version from 8.0.3 on), here's what I'm running PT's on: iMac 2.16GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 24" RAM: 2 GB Leopard 10.5.8. I have a few external drives that I use, but primarily a 500GB Glyph QT050.

'Preciate any help @ all thanks!

Michael

Correct.

CS2 has so far been a success at stopping the white noise bursts that were the primary downside of 8.0.3.

Damn, both my systems have been fine on 8.0.3cs1. Still get stupid little errors from time to time. But for the most part, it's fairly smooth. Just updated the studio pc yesterday to cs2 and all is well so far. Maybe the issue could be with your computer?

Is acceptable to you?

I had Led Zeppelin in the studio yesterday. We were recording this song "Stairway to Heaven." But in the middle of the vocal take I experienced a "stupid little error" from Pro Tools. Ruined the take. After some frustration, we decided to give up on the song and rename the band to "The Jonas Brothers."

True story.

After a VERY long uninstall, reinstall 8.0.0 - update to 8.0.3 then install the 8.0.3cs2 patch... Then install the 8.0.4b audio drivers... everything is running fairly well with my 003 Factory / Core i7 930 / GA X58A-UD3R / Win7 64 bit kit...

Still noticing quirks with the control surface - But audio's good and no crashing.... Integrated Firewire works a treat on this GA motherboard (thank goodness!)

Getting closer to a "perfect system" - Fingers crossed 8.0.4 will resolve the last glitches and we'll see some stability again from Pro Tools on Win7 64 bit.

Cheers.

I don't get any errors while recording anything. I get them during mixing every now and then and it's usually caused by a plugin or elastic audio, but nothing serious that renders my system unreliable. Recording is smooth for me. I doubt you'll ever have a "perfect system" with any software based daw.
