Default major, major issues

Every time I trty to open a particular session file (whic I've been working on for months mind you) it tells me my request can't be completed because of an access violation.Then, windows keep pooping up that say error in Microsoft vicaul C+++, whatever the hell that means. I really don't know what's going on here, so I'd greatly appreciate some help. I'm running 6.7. Thanks.

Sounds like the session file may have become corrupted. Try creating a new session with the same settings and then importing session data from the troubled session.

Or you could try opening one of the autosaved sessions (you do have autosave turned on, don't you?)

Ahem... how is it done? What settings need to be the same? I have the same kind of problem here.

Thank you.

File > Import Session Data.

The Reference Guide is kinda cool to have around for questions like this...

File->New Session

Settings = 16bit/44.1kHz or 24bit/44.1kHz or 24bit/48kHz etc etc

Whatever the original session was, the new one should be too.

(then what JMS said...)

Hey SatchVai, do you happen to have all 32 audio voices in use? Just trying to narrow this down, it may be a part of my "Access Violation" prob here. I have at least 32 tracks open, possibly 33... hmm... maybe PTLE gets confused when opening a session with too many extra voices to sort out?

When I have the time, I´ll import those tracks one at a time. That may reveal something else, who knows. If I import them all at once, no help. The same crashboombang happens.

What´s that supposed to mean? Real men don´t read manuals!

Seriously, my guide was in my studio and I was at home.

Just a FYI... the manuals are always available here:
Technical Documents
And should be available in your PTLE Help menu.

Hope that didn't sound snide...

Okay SatchVai, I found my solution:

Sessions that have been saved with both screens being used (on a dual monitor setup) do not open if PTLE 7.01 is in extended mode when opening those sessions. Not after I close and re-open PTLE, I get "Access Violation" then.

I usually save from one monitor view because sessions open nice with one click to both screens after being opened, just like they were before saving AND shrinking to one monitor. This time I saved from dual screen extended view and my PTLE was in extended screen mode by default so this problem was much harder to track down as one might think... a funny bug.

Snide,huh? I´d need a dictionary for that but real men don´t read dictionaries either.

I've been having the same problem for months now. Reading previous threads, it seems that this is caused by different things. I don't have two monitors. I have been able to reimport data from the corrupted file (how it got corrupted, I have no idea) as explained above but the plugins, automation, etc is lost, so I have to mix again.
