Default Sporadic Pro Tools Crashing and How to get help for them

Hello, I haven't participated a ton on this forum, so if I'm getting random crashes, can I just copy and paste the crash report on here and have someone help me narrow down what's going on? I want to follow proper etiquette and offer whatever information you'd need to help me track down issues.

Not just crash report but a Sandra report if you're on Windows would help.

I'm on Mac, so no Sandra Report. Also, if it could be pointed out to me what I should be looking for in these as the culprit (if it's easy to identify) that'd be awesome as I can do a lot of leg work myself then.

I couldn't upload it and there was too much text to put in the reply.

What would also help is a complete description of your system. The crashlog shows 16 gig ram which is good. Your boot drive - spinner (which if you have it is a 5400 rpm unit) or ssd? Are you recording to a separate drive and not the boot drive? All your plugins up to date?

Also remember that PT10 is not supported on Mavericks but people do have it working after a fashion. I do have the problem when I run PT10 on my Mavericks partition that I have to Force Quit it from the Dock as it won't quit via the drop down menu item or via cmd-Q.

Something that has been known to cause issues is having both RTAS and aax versions of the same plugin. If you have that going on try moving one set to the respective unused plugins folder and see what happens.

Looking at the crashlog if I had to hazard a guess I'd suspect the Slate VMR or other Slate plugins you may have.

2012 Mac Mini i7 2.6
16 GB RAM
SSD internal
Splitter for 7200 internal for audio
7200 for Samples via USB 3

RME Fireface UFX via Firewire

Mavericks was done to help with VRAM as it adds 256 more to my system and that helped my performance and stability tremendously when I was getting a lot of 6101 CPU errors which I think I have linked to not having a separate graphics card as highlighted in this article:

Also, I do use Slate plugins a ton, so if that is the issue, that would be a serious bummer. Is there any word on if AAX or RTAS is more stable, or just try it out and see what happens?

I would say RTAS imho

10 what? 10.10?

Random crashes? On a new session?

PT wasn't qualified to run on OS X 10.9 or 10.10 fyi

PT 10.3.9

this particular crash happened upon load of a song. I am aware it's not qualified for OSX 10.9.5, but as explained, it helped with the graphical issue for me and is more stable than it was in 10.8.x. While I still get occasional crashes, I want to narrow in on as much as I can their possible causes.

I believe Shift S while loading the session will load it but deactivate all the active plugins

I Think it shift S you'll have to google that to be sure

Your crash log indicates that WAVES code was being executed when the crash occurred.
