Yes, I have it running as 64 bit here apart from the plugin section. I was waiting for something else to fall into place before I released it but I’ll probably go ahead soon anyway.

A few of my sessions started to hang (beech ball of death) when trying to close the session or quit Pro Tools.

So I downloaded and used Peter Gates PT Prefs Trasher which I’ve heard great things about.

Nightmare! Pro Tools kept crashing when scanning plugins. Turned out that some of my Izotope plugins didn’t like what the Prefs Trasher did. I had to reinstall PT Ultimate 2018.7 and remove the offending plugins just to get through the whole scanning process which was so long due to amount of plugins I have. Once this completed, I added the plugins back into the folder and low and behold PT scanned and launched successfully.

Very bizarre!

I’ve been informed that it’s a known issue when we have a lot of plugins. When Pro Tools starts to scan all the plugins this issue might occur. So:

1. Grab the installPlugins file before deleting all preferences.

2. Move all the plugins to the unused folder and put a bunch of them inside the plugins folder and then open Pro Tools. Close Pro Tools and do the same again. Until all plugins are scanned correctly.

Sorry to hear you’re having trouble. I’m on 2018.7 Ultimate with lots of Izotope plugins so I’ll try it again here. I’ll do some more digging. If there’s any more info you can give me that could prove useful pass it on.

Cheers,
Pete

Thanks so much for this. Just had to change the path for the preferences so your program could locate it. /Library/Preferences

I'm hoping Protools Prefs 2 will remember my settings and selections when I reopen it.

These are what I understand need to be deleted. Please tell me if I'm missing anything:

• com.digidesign.ProTools.plist
• com.digidesign.ProTools.plist.lockfile
• DAE Prefs
• DigiSetup.OSX
• Pro Tools Prefs

Thanks again!

Lisa

Hey Lisa,
I don’t understand when you say you had to change the path for the preferences? Could you explain further?

Cheers,
Pete

Version 1.7.0 is up.

It's the first 64 bit version (requires at least MacOS 10.10 Yosemite), I've released it early due to issues with High Sierra and Mojave. I've also added a caution for deleting the Pro Tools plugin list (issue (PT-206888)). The plugin page has gone for a while as this is an interim release.

The previous 1.6.22 version is still available & linked on the first page of this thread for safety.

Get back to me with any issues.

Cheers,
Pete

Hi Pete,

PT Prefs V1.7.0 not working for me. After clicking trash selected I get the message "An exception of class NilObjectException was not handled. The application must shut down."

I have all the boxes ticked except eucon preferences, pro tools pref 11+, and Plugin List 11+.

Thanks,

Dave

Hi again Dave,
1.7.1 is up. Try it and see if it fixes your problem. If it doesn't I might message you off this thread and get to the bottom of it.

Cheers,
Pete
