Default Altiverb

Is anyone having problems with the Altiverb RTAS plug-in cutting in and out using Protools LE on a 1 GHz or faster Aluminum PowerBook. Everything works great on my old 667 MHz PowerBook.

Thanks

Any of you guys running this from a G4 ibook? Also, are you able to get more than 1 instance?

I have a G4/1.25 running a 001; my friend brought over his powerbook and we ran Altiverb as a VST plug then used it a send. I was blown away by how good it sounded!

So I'm thinking of getting an ibook just to run Altiverb.

Can anyone recommend a quality (yet affordable I/O)? I really only need spdif.

I can't believe that they only charge $600 for this great plug in--especially when you can download all those Impulses.

What does everyone else think about this?

I've only tried the demo, and yes, it sounds wonderful.

$600? It's typically only $430 for the native version. Even better!

I just bought it, and it's kinda cpu hungry (as expected), but my dual 2ghz G5 should be able to handle more. I'll keep fooling around with settings later, and I know PTLE only uses one of the cpus, but still, my system is crashing with just two instances of Altiverb, a couple of BF compressors, and a couple of others that isn't too cpu hungry. I only have the internal hard drive, but the meters doesn't indicate disk is the problem.

How many instances of Altiverb can you run on your system?

Oh, and yeah, it sounds great.

I don't know of any s/pdif-only Firewire interfaces, but M-Audio (now a division of Avid) has the Audiophile USB which SHOULD do the trick. Street price is about $200. If you're going to use the digital i/o, then the quality of the preamps shouldn't make any difference, and you would still be clocking from the 002 (you would set the Audiophile to external sync from s/pdif), so that also shouldn't be a factor.
