What he says is great but its not quite there yet.



He didn't mention that automatic normalization is optional on Spotify, Tidal and itunes and that Spotify app on some devices like TV's and Games players don't have level normalization.


When they make it mandatory then it will work, but as it is, very few are mastering at -14 or -16 plus there's too many ref levels to aim for! so they all need to decide on a set target level and make that mandatory across all platforms. having different ref levels for different streaming services makes it too convoluted, you can't give the aggregator 3-4 different files, one for each platform.

Automatic normalization is bad, because many choose to master to -1 or -2 to avoid intersample peaking. If that is taken to unity, all of the mastering decisions go away and the song may sound like crap
