Re: Connecting MIDI controller properly to PT 11
I have tried everything and still the Q61 is not working. Yes, MIDI thru us checked and all. My virtual keyboard does play with my mouse, however another issue I am having is that when I record enable the track in every proper place, the track only records blank. I am seriously at a loss and clueless at this point.

If you can hear some sound from FM8, it's a good start (even though it is better to use only your Mbox and not a aggregate device). So now, go to the menu "Setup / MIDI / Input Devices" - Mbox and QS61 MIDI ports should appear in the list - if QS61 box (and Mbox) is unchecked => this is the pb, check it Let us know if it worked...

Re: Connecting MIDI controller properly to PT 11
Hi there! Try creating a MIDI track rather than an instrument track. Select "ALL" for the input channel and add your VI as an insert to the MIDI track. Hope this helps!

Re: Connecting MIDI controller properly to PT 11
MIDI tracks don't have inserts.

Re: Connecting MIDI controller properly to PT 11
Perhaps I used the wrong term. I am not in front of my PC now where I have my Alesis Q61 working properly in Pro Tools 11. Just trying to help. I will repost when I get home with the correct terms. I do know I could not get any keyboard response using an instrument track but when I used a MIDI track, it worked.

Re: Connecting MIDI controller properly to PT 11
I am not sure what the aggregate device is, but I see it mentioned in the MIDI studio and it has within it listed my Mbox.... I have unchecked the built-in Microphones and left only the Mbox checked and now it is playing successfully through the Mbox where I have my headphones plugged in.... so the sound is no longer coming out of my computer speakers. One step I think in the right direction! Now I have no clue about the Q61 still not working and getting the track to record what I play on the virtual instrument. About the Q61, perhaps I do need to get a wall plugin adapter to use rather than the USB for power.

Re: Connecting MIDI controller properly to PT 11
Why are you using an aggregate containing the MBOX, instead of just using the MBOX itself?

Re: Connecting MIDI controller properly to PT 11
Yeah, and you have built in input and output selected?, should be mbox.
SETUP > PLAYBACK ENGINE > Select "Avid Mbox" Also go to VIEWS > EDIT WINDOW VIEWS and make sure "instruments" is selected. we will be able to see what midi device is going to the instrument track. Take a new screenshot |

Re: Connecting MIDI controller properly to PT 11
I just tried adding a new midi track and routing the Absynth 5 and Mbox to it, but that didn't work.... the Instrument track picks up the sound, but the midi track does not (on the sound graphs).
