Default MBox Preamps

Do the Mbox, Mbox 2, Mbox 2 Pro and mini have the same preamps.

I use an outboard pre for most things but I have been doing some test between my 002 and my mini
and there does not seem to be a huge difference.

Thanks

I have heard some people say that the original MBox used a "better" preamp than the MBox 2. As to what exactly "better" means i don't know, I suppose that is somewhat dependent on who you ask. In any case, I discerned, from what other people (two professors actually) have said, that the difference certainly wasn't that dramatic, or even in fact that noticeable.

The original mBox used Focusrite preamps that were designed specifically for the unit.

All of the new mBoxes (mBox2, mBox2 Pro, mBox mini) have preamps designed and made by Digidesign in them.

"Better" is subjective. I used to own and original mBox, and now own a mini, and I think the Digidesign preamp is better than the old Focusrite one. That's just my opinion, though, and everyone has differing ones.
