Re: Why AAX?
I agree. The new format is going to be good I suppose. But the upgrade price for existing hd owners...
I understand all the ongoing "hidden" programming, but avid somehow forgot that the hd base was extremely loyal to this company.

Re: Why AAX?
I would say there is a very good chance that 60% or more of those loyal HD users owns at least one non licensed plug in. This is totally anecdotal on my end but i think its about right. Now you shell out for this nice system it will take some time for the bad guys to catch up. in the mean time your forced to sit down and rediscover a) what you bought and payed for because it works, and b) the plugs that come with your really expensive new toy.
Lets be real yah the waves product is good, but its not much better or worse than any of the other major plug providers. how many project studios have you seen waves v8 on a windows machine? Ever wonder why? @Tamasdragon once the money is spent what else are they going to do? The big initial investment and continued investment is what keeps HD valuable. If everyone could afford it... it wouldn't be special anymore. Good thing that everyone can afford to rent it for a little bit at least. :P |
