Interface - Dante Virtual Soundcard - 32 tracks from My-AUD cards in M7CL
Asio4all installed

Pro Tools not starting

Pro tools 9 initialy would stop at a DAE - 13001 error. I searched everywhere for an answer but that error wouldn't come up. At this time there was only 4G of ram installed even though 8G was ordered.

On the odd occasion it would start and I actually managed to record 32 tracks for five minutes. I couldn't work out why or what was different each time it worked. I could restart my machine and it would work again straight away. Most times it would come up with the DAE error or not start at all.

I tried to start tools with a Presonus Inspire as the interface but it would stop and ask for a different buffer size to be set - which ins't available on the Inspire control software. I have since installed Asio4all but havent been able to try the Inspire with that.

I have also installed the 9.0.2 update and latest ilok driver. Pro tools is set to run as administrator and I have local admin rights on this machine.

Since the extra 4 gig of ram was installed Pro tools hasn't started at all. I uninstalled and re-installed Pro tools 9 and then 9.0.2.

All that happens is the little circle thing runs for a couple of seconds and then stops. Pro tools pops up in the device manager and dissapears.

I have search the DUC and forums and it seems that there are others running with 64bit Windows 7 also. This particular machine was specified on the Avid site as prefered for Pro tools 9, so I am at a loss as to why it wont work.

Any ideas?

cheers Dave.

Hi.
Have you removed the new 4G of RAM and re-tried?
Other tweeks at:

I'm running Win7 Pro 64bit - PT9.02 - Saffire Liquid56 - Wave 8 (Gold) on an older Dell Optiplex 745 with 4Gs of RAM. So far so good.
But PT is sometimes a mystery. I had problems installing a Command8. The only way I could resolve the problems (buzzing) was to reload everything from the OS up. I'm going to create a disk image before I make any further changes.
Good luck.

It didn't work properly on 4 gig... but saying that I havent had time in the last couple of weeks to speak to the IT guys to remove the extra ram as it is a work machine and I wouldn't risk my life fiddling with the hardware.

So I will give that a go and see what happens, but I think it will still be hit and miss!

cheers

Dave

PT 9.0.2 works perfectly with 4 gig ram for me, windows7 service pack 1 etc, etc. I'm not sure what your using your pc for, but 1.8 ghz processor? I think you will have problems there to begin with

I'm running PT 9.0.2 on a Dell Latitude E6410, which is a Core i7 with 8GB Ram and a 256 GB SSD HD. Running Win 7 x64 SP 1.

After install I got problems scanning the plugins for the first time. After moving all the plugins to a temp directory and then moving them back in smaller batches and starting up PT after moving each batch I got it working.

I did have one other issue where Digitrace.dll would crash the start-up of PT. I repaired the installation with the install file and now everything is running just fine.

No problems on Mac 10.6.7 though, seems Windows is a little more prone to issues.
