Default Update to 9.0.1 Failed

Hello!

This is my first post on the Avid Audio forums, and I am glad to be with fellow recording/audio enthusiasts!

Sadly my first post is a technical support question.
Wondering if I could get some assistance with it.

I recently upgraded Pro Tools LE to 9.0, and then found out that 9.0.1 was released. So I waited for a good hour for it to finish downloading and then fired up the .dmg, hoping for a smooth ride.

As it is with Pro Tools, that never happens, and sure enough it said there was not a valid Pro Tools system on my computer.

Is there a good fix for this, or is it a "reinstall Pro Tools" type of issue, like so many others?

Thanks for the time guys.
Keep on keepin' on.

Mine worked flawlessly. Downloaded update, installed, then restarted and downloaded the Midi fix. Then repaired permissions 3 times in a row, restart, all working fine.

Need much more info.

Was PT9 working fine?

What is your OS? Mac I guess.

Computer, RAM, drives?

Did you have any previous PT versions installed beside 9?

Please read this:

Greetings...

Yes, PT is/was working fine.
I use it every day.

I have a MacBook Pro, 2.4 GHz, 2 Gigs of RAM, running OS 10.6.6, recording out through a Belkin Firewire 400 ExpressCard to an Avastor HDX 7200 RPM external drive.

And like I said, I updated to PT 9 from the latest version of LE.

Any ideas?

Do you have your Avid account up and running?
I upped from LE as well, and the FULL v9.0.1 was available for download after registering - not just the update to 9.0.1
Recommend you try it that way.

Did you have your previous version of Protools installed in a different location (directory) than the default? Did you move the previous Protools directory to another location as part of organizing you hard drive? Are you installing PT9 into the same directory as your previous Protools version?

I'm assuming you are using the updater and not the full installer (both are available for download in the crossgrade. If it still does not work, try downloading the full installer and remove you current version of Protools from your system before installing. As always, make a good backup first.

Right.

Uninstall completely first. Install the drivers then install 9.0.1. Or you can use the new drivers and install them last.

So you are not using any external hardware.

How is your i-lok? Is it the new one? Downloaded all the correct permissions from i-lok?

Wow thank you all for your eagerness to help, I really do appreciate it!!

And, what's more, I found the issue.
Obsidian Dragon mentioned directories so I checked them out and sure enough, the directories were messed up.
Folders weren't in their rightful place, etc.

Thank you all very much for your help!

Yes, Macs expect to see certain things in certain places.

Obsidian Dragon gets the gold star today!
