The new spec.

- Powered by FireWire* or included power supply

- MIDI Time Stamping (MTS) support for superior timing and accuracy

- BNC Word Clock I/O

My 002 is showing it's age.

No [bleep]... Anyone else's blood boiling?

The lesson here is don't buy anything...ever...

Maybe we can get a reasonable exchange for the 003... I too refuse to buy any more m-audio stuff...with the exception of MIDI stuff which is great....

It also looks like outputs 5 and 6 are unbalanced as they are a single TRS output. My 002 still rules, that is until the 003 comes along and makes me want it.
This company just keeps getting my money, I don't get it
Why does the software have to be the best there is?
God help me,

My name is Kris, and I have a problem with Pro Tools. It has ended several relationships (with both musicians and girls) and is about to consume my bank account. Is there anyone else here with the same situation?

Yep.

4 analog inputs (2 XLR/1/4" TRS combo jacks & 2 1/4" TRS jacks) two of which are instrument DI inputs on the front panel and 2 channels of S/PDIF digital I/O (RCA)

6 analog outputs (1/4" jacks) for a grand total of 6 I/O's. Oh... plus 1 MIDI I/O (MTS).

Hmmm...

Man, I wish I had some sort of heads up about this before I bought a M Box 2!!!!! BNC Word Clock, I don't believe it. Digi are seeing the light! That means the 003 will have word for sure. FW for the MBox 2 Pro is a good step, however my Notebook only has 1 FW 400 port anyhow, which I need for the audio drive. Maybe we'll get a 002 Pro!?!!?? Being able to tandem it to existing 002(R)'s would really rock hard, but I'm not hoping for that one. Has it actually been a whole year since the MBox 2 came out?

I have an mbox 2 and now I reallllly want this new mbox.

but at the same time I hate protools. Ive never sworn at a company more then them. They have software that is incredibly finiky. I had to give it its own operating system. even then it still has to be maticulously setup to work right. other things like the mbox 2 and no 24/96. hate that. AHHH. but yes it is a really good piece of software.

We have a strong love/hate relationship.

and Ill have that same relationship to a lesser degree with the new mbox. I cant believe that external synch wont go up to 96. I have an apogee converter that I need at 96. very annoying. digidesign likes to hold one thing back every release. it kills me. Ill have to borrow my friends 002 for recording. Finally I can mix at 24/96 though. god I missed that. but seriously. ALMOST exactly what I wanted. then I read that ** at the bottom of the screen and my heart sank.

you want to know what I want to see?

presenting

the digidesign Z-Box.

features

(24/96 synch of course)
BNC
S/PDIF I/O
lightpipe I/O
AES/EBU I/O
MIDI I/O

Z-Box pro

BNC
S/PDIF
lightpipe
AES/EBU
(plus all the other mbox2pro features)

The Zbox idea might be a little insane but it could be cool. for us people who have external converters and mic pres because we know as to home much more awesome they are we could get a product that is fairly small and doesnt waste space on useless analog ins we dont really need.
