Floppy Authorization Errors
Hello,
I'm in the process of upgrading G4-400Mhz to G4 DP 1.25Ghz, but not quite ready to upgrade from our PT 5.1.3. So far, I had no problems removing floppy authorizations from the old CPUs and re-installing onto new macs. Then I began to get errors on the third and last machine. After the DeAuthorizer removes the authorization, I get the following error. "Error while verifying your authorization. You can't save the expanded file with the same name as this running application. Please try again - Result Code 8" Now, the authorization count is increased by 1 on the floppy, but I get a similar message when I try to authorize the same hard drive again as follows: "Error during hard drive authorization maintenance. You can't save the expanded file with the same name as this running application. Please try again - Result Code 8" I'm using Imation Superdisc drive with the following extensions. InterLokEngine 5.1.1 USB Floppy Enable 2.1.2 USB iLok Driver 5.1.1 USBSuperDiskClassDriver 3.3 USBSuperDiskUTDriver 3.3 I'm trying to remove all my authorization from my old computer; OS 9.2.2 / PT 5.1.3cs11 Mix|24+ running on G4 400MHz w/ 1gig RAM Am I missing the correct versions of extensions? Naturally I tried to match the extensions to the computers that worked fine, and it still isn't working. Did I lose my authorizations on floppys that give me the same errors? (I did 4 before being suspicious.. oh well) Ran Norton, rebuilt desktop to no avail... Thanks a million on such an old problem! |

Re: Floppy Authorization Errors
Hi,
This can happen if you have performed a complete backup (mirror image) of the system drive and leave the backup disk mounted on the Desktop when attempting to reauthorize the software. The DeAuthorizer from the diskettes seems to get confused when it finds duplicate files. One on the newly installed Mac OS and a copy of the same system software, plug-ins and applications on the backup medium which mounted on restart. Workaround: Unmount the drive (or disk) from your system which contains the backup of your system. You can also get this error from some plug-ins if you are trying to authorize a SCSI system drive on a Mac that has an ATA buss. I hope this si helpful. If you are still stuck let us know. Re: Floppy Authorization Errors
Thanks for your reply!
There are not back up disk at the time when I was de/reauthorizing the disk. And the G4 I'm dealing w/ does have an ATA internal drive. Thanks again |

Re: Floppy Authorization Errors
It's interesting that now it's working fine - after I unmounted all of my SCSI drives! No drives were named as "Macintosh HD", but perhaps deauthorizers got confused??
Anyhow, Thanks again, |
