Default radikal technologies SAC-2K

Cruise over to www.radikaltechnologies.com folks. It seems they have themselves a control surface that is pretty much a pro-control (USB instead of MIDI or LAN) for under $2000! It appears not to suck like the HUI or MotorMix. You can see it at the bottom of the new (yuck) e-magic ad. Does anyone have more info on this, i.e. will it work for pro tools? I've been trying to get some info from the company, but they won't give me a straight answer.

Thanks,
Ransom Note Recording

Looks great, Anything is better than hui and the absolutly horrible looking Motormix,
Its a shame Motormix engineers did'nt
consult a Industrial design company in its design. If the Lexicon LARC2 was a midi control surface I'd pay $3K for
it. Its compact, has a color LCD display
Gorgious. !!! "check it out"

HUI has been good to me. It broke once, but I got a replacement easily enough. Some functions could be easier to access, but overall I would say I couldn't mix w/o it. Why don't some of you like it? What's better besides Pro Control?

Last week I got an email back from radikal (finally!) about the SAC-2K. They showed it at AES recently to "amazing success". It will be available in USA/Europe from October 15th, or shortly after, at a cost of $1,550.00 + shipping. Here's a copy of supported platforms.

Our compatibility list (as of September 28, 2000) is as follows:
1) Cubase VST (Version 5.0 PC ready/Mac October 2000)
2) Steinberg Nuendo (Version 1.5 October 2000)
3) Emagic Logic Audio (all levels) (Version 4.51 environment and preferences files will be uploaded to emagics third-party download-section and our raditec-homepage.)
4) Emagic Sound Diver (Version 3.0)
5) Digidesign Pro Tools (001) (Version 5.1)
6) Digidesign (Version LE 5.1)
7) Digidesign TDM Pro Tools (Version 5.1)
8) Sek‚D (Version 5.58 8 Tracks Volume, Panning, Mute, Solo, Scrub/Shuttle-Wheel, Marker programming and recall, transport-field, Master EQ. Auto enable of automation recording with touch-sensitivity. CP5 (control-panel) program needed Sequoia support at version 1.0 (High End Audio/Video Suite of Sek‚D with network capabilities and more.)
9) EXS-24, ES-1, Model E, Wave 2.V, B4, Mercury One, Pro 5/52, and several Premium Library Instruments.
10) Digidesign Pro Tools 5.01 shareware (available in the next 2 weeks.)
COMING SOON
11) MOTU Digital Performer (November 2000)
12.) Soundscape (Early December)
13) Spark (NAMM 2001)
14) SAW Studio (End of 2000)
15) Vegas/Acid (4th quarter 2000)
16) Creamware (4th quarter 2000)

It looks pretty sexy too...

it looks great- but no talkback or monitoring... bummer.

however, you can monitor w/ a Furman SRM-80. and you can talkback w/ a mic into an aux track with a footswitch on/off wired to it.

it would still be killer if the radical would offer TB.
