Default Sidechain Compressor on groups: only Chanels selectable?

Hi,
Since I am new to venue systems I have a question, I want to have a sidechain compressor on a group and have another group as key input. From what I see in the software you can only choose input Chanel's as sidechain, is that correct?

If so, what is the best way to get a workaround, right now I would put the output of the group that will be the key signal to a plugin and from the plugin back to a Chanel.
That Chanel then acts as key input for the group I want to compres.

Is there an easier way? There is a lot of patching involved in that method and I want to keep my mix files as simple as possible.

It seems that your way is the only workaround. Hoping to see ability to send from groups to groups, to auxes and why not, the ability to get the key in signal from outputs in the future!
