Default Desktop constantly changing

So, I bought an HP Z820 12 core after getting stomped with -9093 errors for the last 6 months. The new rig runs quite nicely, but every day I fire it up, the desktop icons are rearranged and the task bar may or may not be where I left it the day before. Graphics is nVidia Quadro 600(all hardware is listed as approved by Avid) running windows 10 Pro 64 bit(build 1803, so fairly up to date). Just wondering if anyone has an idea on how to make stuff stay put

did you lock the task bar?

As for desktop icons, maybe you have auto arrange icons checked.

The HP Z820's are killer especially for the price today. I have one too. I would usually only consider building a computer, but the Z series are so well made.

I just wish Pro Tools would get proper support for hyper-threading. Most of the times it's not a problem, but it really sucks when you have to switch it off for Pro Tools and turn it back on for Media Composer

OH, I just thought of something else! Windows 10 has a feature that will SYNC all of your Windows 10 settings across PC's. That may be messing you up too.

On my desktops I like to auto-hide the task bar, but on my Surface I like it to be exposed. If these PC's are all on the same account, they will keep syncing settings back and forth and totally change your settings for each computer. So maybe try turning that off too.

Sync settings are ON by default if you didn't change it during Windows 10 install.

For auto arrange, right click desktop > view > auto arrange icons

Un-check it.

Gone 3 days now and it seems to have settled down. Auto-arrange was unchecked. Guess I must have scared it
