5.1 with PTIII?
Will 5.1 software work on a PCI PTIII system?

Re: 5.1 with PTIII?
From what I understand, yes. However, you won't get full multichannel functionality. No 5.1 mixing and stuff.. not sure if you can do quad tracks, or where the cutoff is, but I know that to do the 5.1 stuff with the cool new panner you need a Mix system.

Re: 5.1 with PTIII?
On another thread on the DUC Digi said that PTIII would be incompatible upon release, and that 1 Disk I/O support would come later.

Digi, could you answer this one - different people have heard conflicting info from digi, a clarification would be nice.

Re: 5.1 with PTIII?
We currently do not have PTIII hardware working with our upcoming Pro Tools 5.1 release. Given the current time frame and programing/test schedules, PTIII hardware support will not be available in this initial release. We hope to be able to add single disk I/O PTIII support to Pro Tools 5.1 at a later date.

Re: 5.1 with PTIII?
Hmmm...Bob, you may want to pass your info along to your sales folks. Both [email protected] and the people doing your 5.1 demos are saying that PT3 hardware IS supported - you might want to straighten them out ASAP.
