Do you have your "old computer" turned on at the same time as your High Sierra computer? For troubleshooting, turn the old computer completely off.
Also, what is the model of your High Sierra computer? And do you have wireless turn on for the High Sierra computer. If so, turn it off to test.

Old (El Capitan) computer is off. High Sierra computer iMacPro 1,1, Intel Xeon W 3GHz, 10 core, 64GB RAM.

in Sys Prefs, temporarily turn off every network connection except the ethernet connection. Then hook the artist mix directly to the ethernet port. Then see if Eucon sees it. (Power cycle the artist mix.)
If that doesn't work. Run the Eucon installer for 18.3 and select "uninstall all" and check "remove user preferences", then restart the computer. Then re-run the Eucon installer and check only the top option (S3/Dock/Artist/PT|Control). Then restart the computer and see if it works then. You may have some old stuff laying around creating problems. Once you get it working directly hooked up, you can start putting your network back together.

I have followed your directions, and had no success yet. The "Remove user preferences" option was grayed out in Eucon 18.3 however. So I searched the forums and found a terminal script from Marianna from Avid help which explained how to trash preferences and did that. Still no luck. UGH. I am about to pull my hair out.

My issue is solved finally!
Directly connecting the Artist Mix to my iMacPro running High Sierra with the stock ethernet cable that came with it was not recognized by Eucon in any version. Network in syspref always saw it, but all versions of Eucon failed to see it in High Sierra (even though El Capitain on another machine did see it). I tried a crossover cable, but that also did not work. I deleted preferences and zapped pram and that didn't work. I tried other ethernet cables and that also failed. I rebooted the computer and the board and that failed. I tried static & automatic DHCP, and even set consecutive #s, and nothing worked. Finally, I purchased an ethernet switcher and that solved it. Eucon IMMEDIATELY saw the device. It works perfectly now. Thank you for all of your assistance in my troubleshooting. I greatly appreciate your help! |

May I ask which Ethernet switcher you bought? I have been having the same issue with a 2018 MBP and Artist Control. |

For anyone having this issue it looks like I have finally solved it.
I bought that switch but was unable to establish a connection for longer 1 second. So I decided to look deeper into the System Preferences: In System Preferences > Advanced > TCP/IP Configure IPv6 I selected: Link-local only Oh Happy day!
