Hey Charlie,

The board is standing comfortably in the corner unplugged at the moment. I think I'll be starting recording a new album soon (I wrote all the songs in two days ) and I don't want to go through that board. Thinking about picking up one of these instead. I don't think it has started shipping yet though, so we'll see.

Glad you liked the vids. The video diary was a really fun thing to do. It's over now, but I have a couple of other things to throw up there that will be more review related. Blog is going fine, now available in German as well

So what are you up to these days? Photos, music or bike-riding?
cool man, so did you ever release the first record? lets hear some tunes when they get rockin eh? cool about the blog and vids man. You speak German? I could teach you some things that my Grandpa taught me in german back in the day. haha

as far as what I am up to, just working the day gig, pulling the bike off the trainer, going to work on polishing up some songs to get a few folks to help me pitch to some folks, and working on a business plan to setup a photography business. So keeping busy with projects as usual..

OK ANDreW.....I am Totally JEALOUS + LUSTING over those racks...BIG TIME... Is that an original Teletronix LA-2A I see in there? OK here is the big question DR.Sound + Skin DR.

Since you are the only real engineer in the T-room, how would us Pro Tool novice type guys start to get better sounding mixes? I realize that is a million dollar question..(literally).

My mixes generally sound OK...(but just OK).. they never sound dynamic and transparent I guess it would start with a good board.

Whadda ya gonna do? Going into my 3rd week in a row with 6 gigs this weekend. cool

Andrew for President...!!1

Best,

kENNy

WTF is a " graduent " ?
An attempt at describing someone who has graduated from an Institution.

The Symphony Orchestra, my first, and all I can say is Wow! Lush, warm, air, breath, ambience, fullness, dynamics ...very cool! I say, I may even return some day.

Yo DL ,
No..if you take a closer look there is only a vintage 1178 (dual 1176) and a pair of vintage LA-4's inthere.
Gives me enough flexibility along the many other non-UREI comps I have.

Wow..that will take a longish post, promise to get to it if you keep reminding me..
Congrats on the busy playing schedule !! You're good and naturally in demand ! I'm jealous for that bro..on the stage front of an audience all live, all together (well...hopefully )

"An attempt" ..Ahh, I see.
I knew you'll be deeply influenced by the live orchestra.
Now..just lock that sonic image in yo brain, and aim to duplicate it as close as possible when playing with your gear.
Seriously..

I'm glad we're back on track with audio, music and such in the TR !
As far as our current board..it's a D&R Avalon with Optifile Automation.
You can see it on our website (profile) or on D&R's site under "photo gallery" >> right side..down about 11
IIRC, my first "board" was a TEAC model 5 with xpender Then SoundWorkshop..
The bulk of my experience is on MCI 500/600; Amek Angela/Big; Neotek
Had at least a few sessions on API/SSL/Neve as well.
Never worked on any digital boards. Yet..

Here is another pix of the two mics I 've just bought as well : B&S
Your studio looks really nice! Lots of gear of course, but I also really like the "oakey" parts of it
Can I come and work there a little if I ever stop by Canada?

Whatever happened to your schooling thing ? Did you finish ??
Are you now a full time musician ?
Yeah, pretty much finished. I'm part-time musician/mix/sound/all that [bleep], part-time blogger/journalist (ugly word)( all that [bleep]
My incomes are split around 50/50 between those two at the moment.

The album ended up as a EP and is recorded and mixed. Waiting for the master. I've actually recorded another EP after that that won't be properly released. I wrote an entire new album this week that I'm putting a lot of energy in at the moment.

You know, speaking of keeping busy
