Error 1606 - Problem installing Pro Tools First!

Every time I try installing Pro Tools First, it gets to the install wizard and freezes at 'Creating Shortcuts' then prompts me with "Error 1606: Could not access network location _\." which upon clicking 'Ok', cancels the whole installation.

It seems this is not a common issue as I cannot find anything about it on the FAQ or forums. I only found forums relating to different software (not even AVID related) saying that I probably have a path incorrectly listed in my regedit under the path

"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Explorer\User Shell"

which I'm pretty sure I don't, and even found a page I could use to verify the paths. Side note (not sure if this helps), this is only installer that has ever thrown this error at me.
