How many tracks play off one drive?
I'm running PT|24 with a 10k rpm seagate 9gig ultrawide through an ATTO scsi accelerator. How many tracks should I typically be able to record, playback, and punch. Also, is there a need to partition my drive.

Re: How many tracks play off one drive?
I use the ATTo Dual Channel and 2 to 4 9 GIG Cheetas. I try to keep only 8 tracks per drive, but I have had 16 - 30 on 1 drive at once and it worked just fine. I would guess that 16 would be a good compromise. I saw no need in partitioning the Audio drives since the heads still read the same drive just different partitions.
Hope this helps.. Jamie |

Re: How many tracks play off one drive?
I have 2940 and two 7200rpm drives - fast SCSI, not ultra. I can get about 40 16bit tracks from one drive w/o problems - assuming half of them is "from start to stop" drums and sequenced keyboards for example, and rest is "some shaker here, some vocals there". With two drives, no problem with full 64 tracks - and it is "real" test in real session, not just testing (during testing I was able to get twice more )
Przemek.
