I recently got myself a focusrite Saffire Pro 40 and now finally got around to set it up and use it. But I have a few issues with it. I first open focusrite Mix Control and do all the required settings, after that I launch PT. As soon, as PT is open, any change, I want to make in Mix Control (which happens fairly often, since I am still learning, how to set it all up) takes forever. And when I quit PT to have faster access to Mix control, I have to restart Mix Control, as well as recycle the interface, 'cause otherwise Mix Control says, there is no interface connected. That might be a firewire chaining problem, since the interface is sitting behind the external HD. Is anyone owning a saffire pro 40 and has a few hints for me ??

Focusrite suggests having your firewire chain entirely as FW400. Anything running at 800 will cause this behavior.

I really wish they would fix this.

But my computer doesn' t have a FW400 port

Im assuming you are running Protools 9.x since you are trying to use the Focusrite Saffire 40. You signature still says Protools 8.0.5.

Make sure you have the latest mix control software as the symptoms sound like the earlier versions of mix control.

10.6.8 / PT 9.0.3 Running Saffire Pro 40 with no problems for months.

WRT to Mix Control, I'm running:

2.2 with
Firmware version 1501
PAL Base 3.5.3 (8786)
FW-Driver 3.5.3.8786
Revision 1782

Very stable on long (2+ hour continous 8 track) recordings and 40+ track projects with overdubs

Just tried the new version of Mix Control...sorry to say, it did not fix the behavior...too bad
