Re: Pro Tools 9 on Windows 7
...and I'd disagree, Pro Tools 9.0 is more stable and reliable on Windows 7 64 than Pro Tools 8.0.4 if you are running hardware components including the personal computer recommended by Avid Audio.

Re: Pro Tools 9 on Windows 7
i find myself having to run at high buffer times, even though i have a fast CPU, 10K RPM HDs and 6GB of memory. I was getting DAE errors even though my CPU was at 17-18% and the used RAM was about 2GB at the time.
i had 2 DVerbs and 1 Delay on Aux Channels and about 20 Comps and 20 EQ4s on individual channels. 2 Massey Limiters (one on an aux and one on the main) and a EQ7 on the main out. 3 bus sends each on 32 channels and a SansAmp plugin running. i don't normally load down my sessions like that, but i don't see why it shouldn't work. also, ProTools likes to stop responding after bouncing to MP3, about 90% of the time... it does create the file fine. these issues are nothing i can't work around, but it would be nice to work with a lower buffer setting. i've done most of the suggested Win 7 - 64 bit tweaks, i need to go through them again and make sure.

Re: Pro Tools 9 on Windows 7
Nightmare would probably be the best word to describe it. I feel like I'm on windows 98. Non stop "pro tools has stopped working" taking multiple minutes just to 'end task' while it's sitting in 'not responding.'

Massey tends to use up a lot of resources. I'm not sure how many other UAD plugins you're using but Massey is a memory hog. I too had an issue yesterday when bouncing a file. I usually don't bounce my songs. I usually use the "export files as region" option for my final mix without changing the resolution, then use Sound Forge to convert it to mp3. Last night, however, I chose to bounce my session to a wav file, not changing the resolution, for the first time with PT9. I had one 2 track, with three midi tracks playing a couple of lead lines, from a couple of soft synths. Thirty seconds into bouncing the song, I decided that I wanted to add something else, but when I hit "Esc" to stop it, as I'd done often with previous PT versions, nothing happened. PT9 stopped responding, but the bounce continued anyway. The min:sec countdown was grayed out. So I decided to let the entire 4 minute bounce continue instead of ending the task. Once the bounce completed, PT became fully functional, as though there was nothing wrong. I've never seen this before, especially with such a small session. I haven't had time to try this again, but has anyone else seen this? BTW, my session was in 24/48, using a buffer of 256 and 11 out of 16 cores. Clock source was ADAT using the Focusrite Octopre. Thanks

Re: Pro Tools 9 on Windows 7
I can't imagine using PT9 on anything less than an I7 - and even then you still need to tweak the BIOS and OS. With all that I do ocasionally get a buffer error but it's usually because I'm mixing a large session at 64.
