Question Trying to find a usb hard drive I can work from using LE Software.

I have an M-box mini system with pro tools LE 8 and Im trying to find a USB Hard Drive that is compatible with Pro Tools. This is my only option seein that I dont have a firewire port or esta port on my acer laptop.

If anyone has any suggestions that would be great!

You really shouldn't use a usb drive with pro tools since they haven't O.K.'d it yet. I have a WD USB drive that I have used lately because my main drive fell to the floor. Have to use system disk and usb for now until I get a new fire wire drive. When I record there is a big difference. I'm scared every time I boot up in PT. Also USB drives tends to go to sleep to conserve the drive etc.. Someone will help you out. There must be some way around the fire wire issue. Firewire card. I don't recommend using a USB drive for recording. Back up, yes. Good luck.

The best solution would be to add a FW or eSata adapter card to your laptop via the ExpressCard or PCMIA slots. Truthfully thats the only way. I would recommend recording to the system drive before using a USB Exteranal. Either way recording to a USB drive or the internal is known to cause issues.
