+1

That would make it REAL ClipFX editing.

This is just for starters, wait for 12.7 coming next year and the new amazing feature, along with full compatibility with El Capitan

Wait a minute. Am I misunderstanding? Are you saying that Avid is advertising Clip FX as a new feature, but it won't include the ability to use AAX FX at a clip level? Please tell me I'm wrong.

Clip FX is a common feature in other DAWs. Some DAWs have had it for 10-15 years. If Avid finally implements it, and it's crippled, they will continue to lag behind the rest of the industry.

It sounds like it might be similar to how Reaper works as well.

The destructive edit of overlapping clips was another thing that bothered me with PT, so these two features are a win / win for me. Can't wait to try them out.

I didn't find any mention of that limitation so I would assume it stays the same 32 as before

Only if 12.7 fixes all the new bugs released in 12.6.

I doubt it. It is probably going to be many years of tail chasing by Avid before they fix all the bits the messed up over the last 5 or 6 years. AAX-DSP for example is a shell of a plugin platform compared to TDM. Some of the most prominent plugin developers may never be making Protools DSP plugins again.

I can't really imagine the introduction of Digilink HD licenses, independent PT HD software sales and hardware price drops is the result of anything other than slow sales.

Actually the best thing about 12.6 is there seems no strong focus on collaboration or other crap that seems to have been badly implemented and helped destabilize the product. Any apparent focus back onto what more users are actually asking for seems good. Now about those bug fixes...

So, so many of the dozen or so plugs I use all the time are not DSP. I believe this is a HUGE part of the reason HDX has been so slow to be adopted. I own 2 HDX cards and sometimes I find myself in a position of having to defend my decision for buying 'the good hardware' to intelligent people who also own Avid hardware and software. It's like the way Avid's business strategy turned out was to silence any of us 'ambassadors' who are happy with our hardware because we feel stupid--even vulnerable--defending our decision.
