iLok Sharing Error
I have a more complicated post going about problems that I've been having between Pro Tools, Bluetooth and a new Hackintosh I've built. You can find it here: http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?p...01#post2070801
But I decided to make a new post with a more general question since it's the point I've now reached as my main consistent problem. Upon booting up my computer, I get this error: "iLok Sharing Error An iLok cannot be shared across multiple operating systems or computers. Disconnect and reconnect your iLok when switching to another OS/Computer." I've googled the error and it doesn't come up verbatum anywhere, which is really unusual. Has anyone else received this and/or gotten it to go away and/or know what it is referencing? I only own one iLok. |

Re: iLok Sharing Error
Same problem here, I just disconnect the iLok, reconnect and PT and other iLok software works...but what a mess this whole iLok situation is!

Re: iLok Sharing Error
I just started getting the same message once I downloaded Pro tools 10.
I am looking for a solution also. It doesn't seem to affect Pro Tools functionality, but I just installed it and haven't played with it much. Hope this thread is resurrected and gets some new interest and some answers to this problem. |

Re: iLok Sharing Error
I've experienced this as well, but it made sense, as I use USB 3 test drives for ANY update. Therefore, when I boot off that drive I would receive that message, unplug and plug in my iLok and everything works. In all honesty, it seems like an OSX 10 problem.
MBP i7 2.6gh, 8g, OSX 10.10.*, PT 11.3.* and PT 12. Actually happened on a spare iLok and just disregarded it. I suggest you do the same.

Re: iLok Sharing Error
I see this message on my Windows machine if I run PT, shut down and swap system drives, and reboot(like I might do to try new software or if I need to revert to an older version I keep on spare drives). The reason here is simple. The USB ports happen to stay powered even with the computer shut off, so the iLok "thinks" its trying to connect to a different computer. Either killing power completely, or pulling and replugging the iLoks solves this(many computers leave some USB ports powered for off-line charging of USB devices like iPhones and such).
