Mbox firmware version 22 install problem

Trying to upgrade to version 22 on original Mbox on Windows XT and am getting the message

from my computer after starting download to Mbox "there are two Mboxes attached to your computer pleas detatch one and start again"

but i dont have two mboxes

i have already rebooted

switched usb ports

still get same message

anyone know what s up?
