Re: error 9506 ?!?!?
You might need to make the DAE buffer or Disk cache bigger in the playback engine settings or make more TDM DSP available for voices. if you get the message repeatably then try these settings.

Re: error 9506 ?!?!?
I am getting the same error trying to run ProTools SE Version 10 on my MacBook Pro OS X Version 10.7.2.
Crizdee, how does one "make the DAE buffer or Disk cache bigger in the playback engine settings or make more TDM DSP available for voices" as you are recommending? Can you point me in the direction of technical guidance as to how to do this? any help appreciated! |

Re: error 9506 ?!?!?
To elaborate: the error message says "Necessary data was missing from the disk cache when needed for a time-critical operation. (9506)". I have not been able to find any information in the Knowledge Base about this error message, nor in a search at Avid.com

Re: error 9506 ?!?!?
I just got this today while working, after I had switched on the 'Optimize for streaming content on audio drives' in the playback engine dialog. I also upped the H?W buffer size to 2048 samples. (running this session @ 96k. I'm using 15 audio tracks and 1 instrument track and my system usage is sitting at 15% CPU and peaking to around 23% at times. Disk usage is in the 5% to 13% area. The big problem for me is, it happens at one spot in the song I'm trying to mix and I can't get past this point... I'm wondering if it's a bad sector or some other access problem from the disk itself.... It's a 1 T Barracuda.
Not sure where to go from here...as the OP has stated, no info to be found...

Re: error 9506 ?!?!?
Just hit this and it turned out to be one of my drum tracks. Not sure which because I had all of them faded out by this point in the song since it ended with a long violin fade. I just shortened the tracks and it fixed the problem. Possibly it was a read error in the info on one of them that messed stuff up. Try shortening your tracks at the exact spot you hit the problem and you should be able to weed out which track is causing the problem. Then you can figure out what you can do with that track. Best I can guess at least.

Re: error 9506 ?!?!?
Running a fairly exhaustive memory checker would probably be a good idea, also...
