Default Pro Tools 9 with Mac OS X 10.7 LION

I was running Pro Tools 9.0 with Snow Leopard just fine until one day, a friend of mine who works for Apple gave me Lion to try out...

Once I installed Lion on my macbook, I was unable to run Pro Tools 9.0 due to incompatibility. I then downloaded the 9.0.3 update but every time I install the update, the installer crashes. When I try to re-install the update, my Pro Tools is nowhere to be found and the installer says there's no Pro Tools software on my computer.

It's obviously something to do with Lion but why is my entire Pro Tools software being deleted? If anyone has any comments or ideas...please share! Thanks.

Part of the update installer process probably involves deleting the old application file and install a new one. If your update installer is crashing it's probably happening due to that.

Lion obviously isn't tested or approved yet with PT, so you're on your own pretty much with this one.

Pro Tools have never worked with a new update of OSX. there's no way it would ever work in a million years with a new version.

Sorry about ranting. It just would occur to me instantly that if one tries something *UNSUPPORTED* and would apparently not be a part of a development/beta team, it would not be appropriate asking for advise for the self-generated problem...

I think any one posting here may be as stupid as they want to be. It seems to me that the ppl who answer may or may not answer to a question too stupid to be true.

In the meantime I do not say that the one posting here was stupid..... A little green maybe. But what's the function of this forum if you must be a PT graduate before you can post here......

There's a thread over on GS about this.. and one or two fellows that have PT9 working just fine on Lion... after a lot of folks said it wouldn't.

I don't know the particulars, you can search them out yourself, Not sure I'll be going to lion any time soon. I'm still on 10.6.5 and quite happy.

I haven't seen any success with Lion yet. I'd suggest staying away until it is approved. Rumors have it being available this week. Don't do it if you want PT to work correctly.

Of cours you can create a dual-boot system.
