Default New Hard Drive Crashing Pro Tools 10.3.8

Just got a brand new G Drive Mini 1TB. I copied (drag n drop) all my PT sessions to it from my older 500GB G Drive Mini. Now when I launch PT 10, it will either hang on start up or when a song is open it will crash on playback or when trying to save. I've used "disk utility" - repairing,erasing,re-formatting etc; even trashing all prefs and zapping PRAM of the computer.

It's really driving me bonkerz!!!

ANYBODY???? (Help...)

Late iMac i5 - 2009
Mountain Lion 10.8.5
Maxed out RAM
RME FF800
...drivers on EVERYTHING up-to-date

What is the partition scheme for this disk? It needs to be GPT. What is the format of the volume? It should be Mac OS Extended, Journaled.

Clicking repair disk when you have the device selected (non-indented entry in Disk Utility) just checks the partition table. Clicking repair disk when you have the name of the volume selected (indented entry in Disk Utility) checks the directory.

How was your old drive connected? Is your new drive connected the same way?

  1. Switch to Finder.
  2. Press Shift+Command+U to open the Utilities folder.
  3. Launch Disk Utility.
  4. On the left hand side of the window, click on the name of the volume that keeps causing Pro Tools to crash.
  5. Along the bottom of the window is an entry that says Format. What does it say next to this entry?

Chief + Craig

Did an "Erase" and "Format" Mac (OSX Journaled).
Used "Carbon Copy Cloner" to copy from the old drive to new....
works like a champ now!!!

I think the "drag+drop" method was missing hidden files that PT 10 wanted to see on the new drive.

Thanks guys for your expertise and quick responses.

Now...back to the music!
