Default Deleting Audio...

In an effort to not waste disc space.....

If you were to remove by deleting, let's say, a chunk of silence between the waveforms from a region in the edit view....by selecting the area and hitting the delete key...

Would this..... reduce the overall size of the audio in terms of the file size on you hard drive?

If Yes...would Strip Silence do the same thing?

Thanks.

Actually ur creating more files using more spaces when u do that...

what happens is that one file become another file each time u break it; when u do so use these shortkuts..Ctrl/shift/u & then Ctrl/shift/b

you'll then be able to get rid of whatz allowed to be deleted & then u wanna consolidate the file after ur done with it...alt/shift/3 after u highlight the file...

you are creating more "audio regions" but no more or less used hard disk size. it is taking your edits, "remembering" them and giving them a new name, that is all not actually deleting anything, necessary for "nondestructive" editing. you can put pro tools in destructive mode, but not really recomended unless you know what your doing.

Thank You Guy's.

No offense taken at all.

I knew what was meant.

So....once you record a region, there really is no way to, "delete portions of it", "strip the silence from it"...in an effort to save hard disc space.

Wow..I thought it did.

All along I thought by doing this, as well as trimming the audio,it was reducing the size of the audio and reclaiming disc space.
