2 Part Question: Direct Connect / Focusrite d2

Hey Gang!
I just got into the Pro Tools MAC Game and what to buy a Progie called "Alkali" to do some cool Mixes....But, to run it in Pro Tools..I need to install Direct Connect(It's Free)
Question#1: Should I download the latest version off digidesign website?

**Question #2: Does the Focusrite d2 EQ Plug-in work in Digi 001 via Audiosuite?
or is strictly a TDM Plug-in?......
I own it on my Windows Machine and it works well via Audiosuite....
But,perhaps in "Mac" Land it is different!??!

I might be able to help you with your D-C question,,but first i'll need to know wich version of PT are you running?,,,if your running an early version of PT5 it maybe that you will not be able to run D-C with out an upgrade,,i cant remember wich version it was added to,,If you are on a more recent version you should have got the D-C plug already loaded,,all your need to do is add a direct connect compatable APP,,like ALKALI,,it will ask if you want to load the ALKALI DIRECT CONNECT pluggin to your plugins folder,,select yes and you should be away,,there is also a low latency version af D-C that has a 128 buffer,,some people have had trouble with this version,,i have found that i cant use it with the NATIVE-INSTRUMENT apps,,it may work for you though so no harm in trying,,
