Default McDSP NR800

http://mcdsp.com/plug-ins/nr800/

The plugin was announced in the last 24hours and already an important part of a dialogue chain? Talking about early access!

Watched the demo. Not impressed - can here artefacts even with a very basic noise removal.
IMHO it doesn't come close to DNS One and even to RX Dialog NR module / Waves WNS / W43.
It has a nice graphic design (a bit kitschy though) but for almost 1/3 a price I would recommend a Brusfri as a better sounding tool with less colourful graphics.
I am biased however cause after McDSP locked v5 plugins for license transferring, I stopped buying any McDSP products.

That would be a disappointment certainly if that is indeed the case. McDSP usually make very good products, but then, so do Waves and iZotope. Although, I didn't hear much in the way of artefacts myself.

I did notice a small change in tonality, but that was due in part to the filters. Many of the other changes I felt were improvements. I felt he did take too much high presence off the voice over, though, and the snare had lost some of it's decay, but then, short and snappy might have been what he was going for.

You've got to think that we're hearing these as isolated examples outside of the context they are being used and context is everything.

I definitely think its worth looking into. It may not even be the case of which NR plugin does it better, whether its Waves, iZotope or McDSP. There is a discernible possibility that they may actually be able to compliment each other. Providing you have the money for more than one solution.
