Exclamation Pro Tools 9.0.3 HD & MBP OSX 10.6.8

I'm using MOTU Ultralite Hybrid and just did the darn OSX 10.6.8 update before checkin the DUC, so now Playback wont start and the input signal is digitally distorted when rec enabled. Also the built it speakers (as the selected hardware) make really strange signals, very loud btw. No playback. Everything was ok on 10.6.7 and 9.0.3 HD.

This OSX update really f#%ed up my Pro Tools 9.0.3 HD on my 15 (late 2009) MBP. Cant work on PT at all. The 10.6.7 combo cant be re-installed unless I go for a fresh install. I can't do that since I have 400GB's of work and apps on my MBP. It was all good until today. So much for the PT9 update I bought a while ago.

Will Avid come up with an update for this or do I have to wait for apple ? Anyone got the same problem ?

Sorry for your troubles. Are you running TimeMachine or some other form of backups? If so, have TIme Machine restore to an external drive. Boot from the external then run carbon copy cloner or SuperDuper and have it clone the external over the 10.6.8 internal. Just make sure you have a full and complete backup of all your data files before you do the clone. Hope that helps.

That would have been great. Not usin timemachine

If anyone knows whats going on, please keep me informed. I just would not really be into putting a clean install since I have tons of plugins and other apps. It would be too much for now...

Thanks guys.

You should try trashing preferences, including the Core Audio preferences indicated in the General Troubleshooting thread, then restart and test again.

Trashed the prefs with the app: ProTools Pref and Database Helper. Did it twice and repaired premissions. That did the trick. Kind of easy for a change. Works now. Lets see how it behaves in the coming days.

Thanx for the help !

Turn "Minimize addition I/O latency off or roll back to 9.0.2.
