Default getting large files off PC to Mac

Hi,

I somehow need to get some large files and folders off a PC Laptop onto my mac. The PC can't read any of my external drives so i'm looking for another way to do this!

Even with a drive formatted to fat 32 i couldn't copy data larger than 4gig.

Can i easily ethernet the computers together?

Chris

Chris - FAT32 has a file size limitation (I believe) of 4gb - (Which you're already aware of)

if you format that drive NTFS on the PC - the Mac will be able to "READ" the files, but not Write to the NTFS partition, and file sizes MUCH larger then 3Gb are supported.

Once you've copied everything from the NTFS drive, you can Just reFormat it on OS X's disk Utility, to use with your Mac.

if there are ALOT of files, lots of data, Copying over network / Ethernet will take forever, but WILL work, the NTFS formatted external drive is your quickest bet.

if you WANT to write NTFS on your Mac, you can buy Paragon for $40.00 Bucks

PARAGON

which comes in handy for accessing and Write / Execute / Delete on NTFS Windows partitions, from your Mac. - but again, NOT necessary for this File transfer.

FAT32 is limited to files of 4GB or smaller. Have you tried formatting the drive NTFS, copy the data to it, then bring it to the Mac - which should read it.

Hi,

Yes, problem is i would have to delete everything on one of my external drives to format it to NTFS! and they all have loads of data stored on them.

Guess this is the only way! damn microshaft windblows

Or... you could try MacDrive7 on the PC allowing you to Mount, and read / Write all OS X volumes.

you could use one of your "Already Mac Formatted" drives right on the PC to Drag and Drop the files.

I've used this in the Past, it worked really well on the PC

+1 for Mac Drive 7, and I'm pretty sure there's a long demo period, which would let you do the job without buying it

If you have Pro Tools on the PC side, you can install HFS+ off the installer, which is basically Macdrive.
