Command|8 (Offline)
I just got a Command 8, and am really frustrated. I'm using a 24" iMac with OsX 10.4.8 running ProTools LE 7.3. The Command 8 is connected to the iMac with a USB cable. Its firmware is 02.01.02. I can't get it to stop saying "Command|8 (Offline)" except when I hit the "Stand Alone" or "F1.Utility" buttons. What am I missing? Please help!

Re: Command|8 (Offline)
You also need to tell ProTools it's there: it won't automatically recognize the control surface just because it's plugged in. I haven't done it in a while, so I may not remember the steps correctly... so look in your manual for the right way to be sure. Look for the "Peripherals" set-up somewhere in ProTools, and there'll be a section (second from the right, I believe, can't remember what it's called) where you'll be able to tell a) ProTools where the commands are coming from and b) where to send replies to (so your control surface reflects fader positions, pans, etc. once they've been changed).

Re: Command|8 (Offline)
This is seriously frustrating. My command 8 was working when i first plugged it in. Protools crashed (i had the PT7.x unable to type text error) and since then my C|8 has been offline. Its ports are not visible in the Midi Controllers menu, so i cannot choose it. I've deleted preferences, still to no avail.
The only love i received is when i ran the C|8 firmware updater, which re-enable me to use it, at least until PT crashed again. Now my command 8 is offline again and my Firmware updater cannot locate the command 8. I've changed USB cables, changed USB ports (i know it sets itself to a particular port, so i've gone back to the original one). Digi, this is retarded. How the hell do i get PT to see my command 8? fman PT7.2 HD, Quad G5, 4.5GB ram, using C|8 via USB. |
