Digi 003 jog/wheel locks up console

Im using a Digi 003 console on Pro tools 10 and 11. The only issue im having is when I turn the inner jog wheel the majority of the console functions lock up (or cease to work) the transport works and the edit and mix button works but nothing else. I have to restart a session to get it working. Could this be a bug?? I dont have to power cycle the console, just re-boot the session.

I'm beginning to wonder if this is why the jog/shuttle wheel was missing when I bought it, just got a replacement one. As if the previous owner took it off because it didn't work. Anyone experienced this?

Most interesting! We actually(you and me, anyway) have a rather serious bug to report. When I use the wheel(even 1 time), it causes my keyboard to go into some bizarre mode where nothing does what it should. For instance, the N key suddenly becomes the command to call up the New Session box, and the spacebar works as a record command(hit the spacebar to play, and get a popup that no tracks were record enabled). Not only this, but even after closing PT, the keyboard is still whacked in all programs until I reboot.

Not a big deal for me as I never used the wheel before today(testing your issue), but it sure is an issue

Okay, a little more testing has revealed 1 possible cause/solution. For me, using the wheel causes the Ctrl key to become locked on. I am able to restore proper function by hitting the Ctrl key on the keyboard(using the button on the 003 does NOT seem to work). Of course, as soon as I use the wheel again, it goes nuts.

mmm. The first thing I noticed was the zoom button on the arrow key gets stuck in tab mode and won't go into zoom as it should. None of the solo or mute buttons work, and they are greyed out in pro tools, also faders on the screen struggle to move with the mouse. Everything is fine again once i reboot the session and stays fine as long as i dont touch shuttle/jog. Ive been using my 003 for a month now and its fantastic, the jog wheel was missing when i bought it so i got a replacement from Avid and so i havent used it 'til this weekend. It sucks whatever it is.

I would guess that maybe a lot of 003 owners don't use the wheel or we would have had this show up a while ago. I spent a few years with the older 002, and never having HAD the wheel, its not been something i reach for(yes, I have a lot of wasted buttons and functions....). Would be nice to know if other 003 users are seeing this.

True. But its great when working in post, I often use shift/play to set it in slo mo. shuttle is far more efficient if it would work. And i want to get full potential out of my 003, it is hard trying to break the mouse habit.

While you raise a good point, I have been purposely ignoring much of the surface as I expect 2 things to happen in the near future. Either it will become obsolete in PT12, or I will move to HD hardware and not be able to use it anyway

I think it will be dropped in version 12 too. but Ive decided to stick with 11 until my 003 dies. I'm fed up of upgrading to new versions, I've been doing it since 7.4
